They Said What!?
“What is the most important aspect for a prospect to be recruited during Live Period?”
It’s a loaded question I’ll admit, but one that parents and players need to think about going into the first observation period for D1 college coaches. Of course, talent is a prerequisite to be worthy of a college coach’s attention, but after that, what are some controllable elements that can help you get recruited?
And the number one answer on the board is fit. Sit down and think about what you do best as a player - what skills you have that will translate to the next level - and then ask is your grassroots program providing that.
Offers and interest are hard to come by if you’re struggling with a role you are unaccustomed to, and they’ll be nonexistent if you’re sitting the bench for a top tier team rather than going to a program where you can shine playing extended minutes.
It’s still very early in the grassroots circuit season, so not everything will be finely tuned to the full extent, but you need to see the way forward in your role that will allow you to be recruited as the player you are.
