🤯 5 Personal Questions to ask yourself before you commit to play college basketball.

Hey there,

This week I want to talk about the questions you need to ask yourself before you go all in on pursuing basketball at the next level.

Unfortunately, if you don't answer these questions honestly, It could cost you a lot of time and money.

Let's jump in.

—

📍Location

How far am I willing to go?

The location of the college brings a lot of questions into play.

• The Weather

• City Size

• Holiday Travel

Just to name a few...

—

📚 Major

What do I want to do professionally?

Make sure the college you are considering offers the major you are looking to study. For the vast majority of players, the ball will stop bouncing after you finish college.

I would have 3 in mind.

—

💰 Financial

How much am I willing to pay or can my family afford it? What number is the actual financial breaking point?

Knowing your financial situation is important. It allows you to understand how you might approach making key financial decisions like:

• Scholarships

• Loans

• Financial Aid

—

🏀 No Basketball

Would I go there if basketball wasn’t an option?

I understand it if it’s your only option, but if you aren’t comfortable without basketball there, I wouldn’t bank on basketball making it easier.

If anything, I would argue that it’s going to make it harder.

—

🤨 How Serious Are You?

Are you willing to play in the lowest division of college basketball?

This question reveals your true motives towards basketball.

Are you all in on basketball?

Or

Are you more about the things that basketball provides?

That’s it!

Michael Timmins (@iFilmHoopers) called his shot earlier this week after posting this game recap, as just a few days after beating Lewisville it was Plano East taking the top spot in the state 6A rankings.

GASO Top 25 Rankings: Dec. 21 Update

The latest batch of top 25 rankings are posted below, including a recap of talking points and notes for each classification.

6A Breakdown:

As mentioned above, PESH is now the no.1 squad in the land and still undefeated heading into the holiday break. Stony Point was heavily considered for top billing as well, as these two teams will get some big time tests when they return to business at their respective holiday tourneys next weekend.

Atascocita had some ups and downs to start the season, but pulled off their best win to date with a 20-point district opening W over former no.1 Beaumont United. The Eagles jump up to no.7 and will feature very near the top of the Regional Power Rankings that will debut in our next issue.

Mansfield Lake Ridge continues to make noise in a positive direction, starting district play with a win over Duncanville, and McKinney jumped back into the top 15 with a defeat of Denton Braswell. Buda Johnson re-enters the rankings at 25 to close out the first half of the season.

5A Breakdown:

Argyle vs. Colleyville Heritage was a game the GASO office had circled for awhile now, and it was Argyle taking the district opener to move to 1-0 and take control of the no.5 spot in our rankings.
