TABC Live Period: Marquee Matchups
The GASO staff has had time to peruse the TABC schedule (all 783 games scheduled over the next three days) and collectively have come up with their picks for games they’ve selected as high priority on their viewing plans for the weekend.
Friday (6/20) Games to Watch:
Red Oak vs. Cy Falls - Duncanville HS 1 | 1:05 PM
What better place to start than the first “arena” game of the weekend - in a game that will have something for college coaches of all levels no less? Red Oak returns plenty of firepower from last season with Devan Kirk, KJ Bradford and AJ Burdine - while I’ll be excited to get another look at the young guns at Cy Falls. JD Humphries and Teron Watts have made a lot of noise since the HS season and should already be on college radars to go with a strong supporting cast. -Lyndon Cook
Dallas St. Mark’s vs. San Antonio Harlan - DFH 1 | 3:15 PM
This should be a fun match up as GASO’s No.1 ranked 2027 prospect, Dawson Battie from Dallas St. Mark’s will take on San Antonio Harlan. After making state just a few months ago, Harlan is still riding the momentum. Bryce Christian, Amoni Francis, Jordan Mangum, and Micaiah Baker will help lead the charge for a young and talented Harlan group. Also look for Asher Collins to help as a scorer for St. Mark’s. - Blue Zertuche
Arlington Grace Prep vs Cy Park - DFH 1 | 6:30 PM
Arlington Grace Prep:
• MJ Boyd (2028)
• Joel Hudgins (2028)
• Amari Coleman (2027)
Cy Park:
• Joshua Augmon (2028)
• Royce Shelton (2027)
This game is the future on display. Young guards with game beyond their years. Explosive, skilled, and competitive — expect a fast pace and fearless play from some of the top underclassmen in Texas. -Ryan Massad
Little Elm vs. Friendswood - Duncanville HS 1 | 6:30 PM
If you want some Friday night electricity then circle this one on your weekend schedule. Kensington Candler, Eli Fegans and co. can light up the scoreboard on any given night and are coming off a really strong year - but Friendswood counters with Chase Richardson and new add Keshav Vijaykumar who will bring plenty of high octane scoring of their own. The guardplay alone in this one will be worth the price of admission. -Lyndon Cook
Saturday (6/21) Games to Watch:
Cedar Hill vs. Galena Park North Shore - DFH 1 | 9:00 AM
Let’s hit the ground running Saturday morning with two teams looking to make a statement at DFH. Cedar Hill’s Tra Young has more than earned his place in our 2026 rankings thanks to his high order bucket getting, but North Shore has a pair of 2027s who will offer plenty of resistance with Sean Mayberry and Damarcus Sloan. College coaches wanting to save themselves some coffee money can do so by getting to this court early, where the physicality will give them that boost caffeine normally does. -Lyndon Cook
Denton Ryan vs. Killeen Chaparral - Mansfield Lake Ridge HS | 10:05 AM
This game will feature two well-balanced teams that want to play fast. There will be plenty of athletes on the floor for both teams. Here’s who I like. For Ryan, it’s Brandon Hawkins, Brayden McDade, Zylan Bernard and Deanthony Manuel. As for the Chaparral’s, look at prospects Carlos Robinson and Nathaniel Brown. - Blue Zertuche
Frisco Memorial vs Lufkin - Duncanville HS 2 | 12:15 PM
Frisco Memorial:
• Dylan Steffe (2028)
• Vijay Keshaav (2029)
• Xander Pruzinsky (2027)
• Cade Deffebaugh (2026)
• Jackson Childers (2026)
Lufkin:
• Austin Brown (2026)
• Tripp McManus (2027)
• CJ Burse (2026)
• Jakevion Sanders (2026)
Two programs with state tournament dreams. Memorial brings one of the most complete lineups in 5A, and Lufkin counters with high-level talent and toughness — headlined by elite prospect Austin Brown. Expect defense, discipline, and big-time moments. -Ryan Massad
Frisco Lone Star vs. Killeen Ellison - DFH 1 | 2:25 PM
The amount of talent at the guard spots in this individual game will be off the charts - and there’s a great mix of prospects from every class on both rosters. Josh Weems, Quincy Baker, Bryant Robinson and Trey Wright will all garner plenty of attention for Lone Star while Ellison’s Sean Parks, Marneko Thomas and Elijah Bass look to continue the tradition for one of the state’s most impressive 5A programs over the last several years. Expect both these teams to be strong candidates to be in next week’s way too early top 10 rankings. -Lyndon Cook
Waxahachie vs. Cypress Ranch - Duncanville HS 3 | 3:30 PM
This one is a no brainer for college coaches trying to find an alpha-dog scorer. Trae Nunn and Waxahachie against Josh Goodwin and Cy Ranch. Two dudes who will feel like they have plenty left to prove even though they’ve both had highly accomplished careers up to this point. If you value high difficulty shotmaking as a skillset, you should make a beeline to this court on Saturday. -Lyndon Cook
Sunday (6/22) Games to Watch:
Mansfield Timberview vs. Schertz Clemens - Duncanville HS 3 | 9:00 am
It’s rise and shine on day three of the TABC Showcase as these teams will tip off the day. You want prospects to heat up your coffee, then you found the right court. Timberview has the experience of Jonathan Williams and Brian Waters to do the heavy lifting and to carry on the winning tradition of the program. While Schertz Clemens has an opportunity to play themselves into the conversation as one of the best teams in San Antonio. They can accomplish this with their nice mixture of youth and veterans. We will find out the rolls that Jayden Arceneaux, Christian Dupree, Quintin Proctor, and Bryson Bell will play for Clemens. - Blue Zertuche
Dallas Dynamic Prep vs Humble Atascocita -DFH 2 | 10:05 AM
Dynamic Prep:
• Xavier Roberson
• Phoenix Woodson
• Marcus Spears Jr.
• Ryan Hampton
• David Baliraine
• Avery Huston
Atascocita:
• Adam Boyd
• Jachai Cantave
• Zayson Salanoa
• Carson Countryman
• Grayson Celestine
• Anthony Key
This one has everything. Nine ranked prospects. Two respected programs. Coaching pedigree. National attention. If you’re a college coach — or just someone who loves elite hoops — you’ll want front-row energy for this one. -Ryan Massad
Palestine Westwood vs. Brock - Mansfield Lake Ridge 3 | 12:15 PM
By far my favorite “small school” matchup of the weekend, this one pits a Brock team who looked very comfortable in their first year in class 4A against one of 3A’s most dynamic duos (even if one of the two hasn’t played a varsity minute yet). Brock returns plenty of experience from a team that pushed Randall to 2OT in the playoffs last year, led by Elijah Paez, Jacoby Boxell and Will McGee while for Westwood it will be all about getting eyes on the Bryant brothers - Kavian (2027) and Kaden (2029) - who will have a state championship within their sights during the HS season. This one will be worth the trip on Sunday morning! -Lyndon Cook
Leveling Up Powered by Ballogy
With all this Texas talent gathered for one weekend of hoops, there are going to be plenty of opportunities for prospects to Level Up. The GASO staff lists the players they have highlighted as breakout candidates for the TABC Live Period on this segment of the GASO FastBreak, powered by Ballogy: Where Development Meets Breakout Performance.
Ryan Massad’s Breakout Candidates:
Luckie Harbert (2028) – Duncanville
One of the biggest transfer names in Texas. Luckie has a real chance to become a high-level prospect. He bullies smaller bigs inside, then steps out and stretches the floor—putting real pressure on defenders. As his polish catches up with his physical tools, he’ll start popping up on major recruiting boards. Big-time upside.
Lamin Foon (2026) – Anna
Lamin’s development has been impressive—and there’s more coming. He has great size, soft hands, and legit length that disrupts offense’s. He already holds an offer, but TABC could be the event that lights up his recruitment. If you’re a college coach, put him on your watchlist now.
Vari Beck (2026) – Odessa Permian
Playing out in Odessa, Vari hasn’t gotten the state-wide attention he deserves. But make no mistake—he can go. He’s a strong athlete, a confident scorer, and will play a tough schedule that’ll provide a great evaluation. If you’re looking for a sleeper with upside, Vari Beck should be on your radar.
J’Den Shields (2026) – Prosper
J’Den was peaking during the high school season before an injury slowed him down. He’s back now, and even if there’s still a little rust, I’m not worried, his impact is obvious. Toughness, defense, and winning plays are his foundation. Whether he scores or not (which he can do… Averaging 28 ppg before injury), he affects the game in every facet. Coaches should be paying attention.
Mack Martin (2027) – Austin Westlake
I told his summer coach: “Mack is a nuclear bomb waiting to explode.” He’s a 6’5 shot-maker with real isolation ability and a growing all-around game. As he continues to grow on his winning habits, you can see it’s coming together fast. Playing alongside Bo Ogden at Westlake, Mack’s breakout could be massive this weekend.
Lyndon Cook’s Breakout Candidates:
TK Taylor (2026) - San Angelo Central
Taylor may play his high school ball out in West Texas but his potential is well known to the GASO staff as one of the state’s most versatile 3 & D wings. When college coaches describe what they’re looking for in prospects, he fits the bill with a pure jumper and plenty of length on the defensive end.
Reggie Rideau (2026) - Humble Summer Creek
Rideau is a gamer and has been trending up basically since last year’s TABC event. His quickness and microwave scoring ability translate well to the next level and he will fully have the keys with Summer Creek going into his senior season. Coaches in need of a lead guard should tap into his games as they’re all against top tier competition.
Brayden Williams (2027) - Fort Worth Boswell
Williams has been one of my biggest personal stock risers in the 2027 class this spring, showing out on several occasions for AB Elite as an all-around guard with plenty of pop. Just looking at the individual matchups he’ll face this weekend when talking lead guard versus lead guard, I feel like this weekend will be a great measuring stick opportunity to boost his stock in front of the college coaches.
Zylan Bernard (2027) - Denton Ryan
His physical tools are undeniable and the signs are there for a breakout - his playmaking and craftiness around the rim make his spot in our 2027 top 40 well warranted. Denton Ryan will be looking for a resurgence this year and I’m picking Bernard as the catalyst to lead them to success starting this weekend.
Jayden Spriggs (2028) - Navasota
I’ve been meaning to get my eyes on the slew of underclass prospects at Navasota for some time now, and TABC will give me the opportunity to do just that. Spriggs leads a strong class of ’28s with his production and commanding presence in the middle serving as calling cards thus far in his career. Six-foot-6 rising sophomore prospects with rebounding prowess and a high motor tend to do well with coaches at the next level.
Blue Zertuche’s Breakout Candidates:
Keshav Vijaykumar (2027) - Friendswood
A shooter with size and the ability to hit the deep range three-pointer. Playing along side Chase Richardson who already possesses offers, Keshav will benefit from his guards penetrating the defense to get him open looks.
Atreju Crump (2027) - San Antonio Reagan
I’m looking for Atreju to be a leader of this young Rattler squad who will rely on him to rebound and score inside the paint. He has size and is strong. I believe that Atreju is up for the challenges from the teams that he will face.
Tra Young (2026) - Cedar Hill
Tra is a player who has grown into a volume scorer over the past year and here is his chance to shine. When you watch Tra, he is fast and plays in an uptempo offense that allows for him to score from all three levels. I look for Tra to continue his momentum.
Terrell Jackson (2028) - Dallas Carter
Here it is, the time has come for Terrell to show his game to high major college coaches. One of the best all-around interior prospects in his class, Terrell can stretch the floor, play off the bounce and cause issues for his opponent on both ends of the court. He is still developing and adding strength, but what he has done in a short period of time should solidify himself as a no-brainer high-level prospect.
Dylan Walker (2026) - Buda Johnson
Dylan is a prospect who has shown that he will do all the littles things that need to be done in order to win. He is a defender, rebounder, scorer and leader. Dylan will mix it up and get off the floor and score over his opponent inside the paint. Lots to like from the senior to be.
Tim Littlefield’s Breakout Candidates:
Trey Edwards (2028) - Melissa
While there will be tons of eyes on teammate Austin Goosby and rightfully so, I’m highlighting Edwards as one that a lot of college coaches will need to get familiar with as one of the top 2028 prospects in the state. He’s one of the smoothest scoring wings in the state and I could see this being a huge weekend for his stock amongst the college coaches.
Sun Jinkal (2027) - Austin St. Michael’s
Never fails to produce. Showing off PG skills as well as being a deadly accurate shooter. Has a big role to step into but will be more than capable based off his body of work so far in his career.
Hayden Brannan (2026) - Austin Vandegrift
Finished the HS season on a high note and has continued to make noise in the spring. Long and athletic and should get plenty of attention from the college coaches.
Payton Jones (2027) - Beaumont United
Will be wearing new colors but my expectations are still high for one of the state’s most dynamic lead guard prospects. Can score it any way you want, defend and has the physical traits that all college coaches will be looking for.
Chandler Miles (2026) - Killeen Ellison
Will be a pleasant surprise for some. Mobile forward with good touch around the rim and holds his own as a defender against guards and bigs alike. Picking up momentum at the right time in the summer.
Michael Timmins’ Breakout Candidates:
Adonis Wright (2027) - Pflugerville Weiss
Maybe it’s a bit of recency bias because of his performance at our last GASO, but Weiss needs a leader after Mehkai Bryant, Bryant Phelps, and Lamarious White led this team to a regional finalist finish last season. Weiss needs a tone setter & with Wright’s motor and athleticism, the time is now for the 2027 wing to make his name louder than ever.
Jacoby Lovings (2026) - Kennedale
This time last year, you may not have a hoard of coaches popping into to see a Kennedale game at TABC. But what Lovings has done in a year is impressive. He’ll get his chance to show college coaches of multiple levels just what he can add to their program. Excited for a platform like this for a kid who’s earned the moment.
Donovan Criss (2026) - San Antonio Brennan
Kingston Flemings leaves to Houston and there goes Brennan’s chance… I’ll stop my thought there. Donovan Criss is a DUDE & DUDES want these kind of moments, ya know, the one where hundreds of college coaches are ready to see what you got as you enter your senior year. He’s already broke out, but there’s another level he’s waiting to explode to.
Trae Nunn (2026) - Waxahachie
All he does is produce. He’s in high level form in games on Puma or in camps like at Pangos. He’s one of the best shot makers in the State & with a lot of moving pieces he’s a HUGE focal point for Waxahachie. Expect a lot of makes and a lot of curious college coaches in attendance getting more and more involved in his recruitment.
EJ Moore (2028) - Beaumont United
The amount of murmur in the coaches section when EJ starts to get busy will be so fun to glance at. He’s what they look like & the style of game travels. One of the most talented bigs regardless of class will make a statement to the college coaches and some national media representatives will need to have some rankings meetings.
