6A-1A HS Team Rankings
Introducing: Regional Power Rankings
The regional power rankings list returns to the GASO FastBreak, with our panel of experts selecting the Top 5 teams in each region 6A-1A.
New this year is our divisional tip-sheet, which we have concocted based on which playoff bracket teams are likely (or certain) to feed into should they make the playoffs.
This list will be updated weekly throughout the season as we unpack results from the district season.
For Reference:
All teams in the power rankings will have one of the following designations describing their potential playoff status:
Certain D1: This team is one of the two largest schools by enrollment in their district, and will automatically filter into the big school bracket (division 1) when/if they qualify for the playoffs.
Certain D2: This team is one of the two smallest schools by enrollment in their district, and will automatically filter into the small school bracket (division 2) when/if they qualify for the playoffs
Likely D1: This team is in the upper half of their district in terms of enrollment, but is not guaranteed to qualify for the division 1 bracket. For example, the 3rd largest school in an 8 team district would go to the D2 bracket should the two bigger schools above them make the playoffs.
Likely D2: This team is in the bottom half of their district in terms of enrollment, but is not guaranteed to qualify for the division 2 bracket. For example, the 6th largest school in an 8 team district would go to the D1 bracket should both schools with lower enrollments qualify for the playoffs.
Bubble Team: This team could truly go either way based on district outcomes. For example, the 4th largest school in a 7 team district is truly on the bubble with 3 teams above and 3 teams below.
Editor’s Note: These titles, especially the likely/bubble designations, are subject to change as the playoff picture clears up in each district over the next month.
